Watch: Wonder Wheel Breezes At Casse’s Training Center In Her First Work Since Breeders’ Cup Win, Presumptive Champion Title In Sight.

Wonder Wheel is expected to be crowned Champion 2-Year-Old Filly for 2022 after her impressive win in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies. On Jan 11, 2023, the 3-year-old filly of Into Mischief returned to the work tab and breezed three furlongs in 35.4 seconds at conditioner Mark Casse’s training center in Ocala, Florida. Casse posted a video of the workout on social media, revealing his plans for Wonder Wheel’s sophomore debut.

Casse mentioned that the Suncoast Stakes on Feb. 11 at Tampa Bay Downs is part of the plan, but he would still like to see how the filly trains before deciding. Alternatively, Wonder Wheel may be pointed to the March 4 Davona Dale Stakes at Gulfstream, however, the Breeders’ Cup runner-up Leave No Trace is also expected to target that spot.

The first work back was said to have been really good, giving Casse the confidence to begin targeting possible races. It will be interesting to see how Wonder Wheel fares in her sophomore debut and if she will be able to replicate her success from the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies in other races.
